A total of 31 Elmbridge Phoenix swimmers made the finals on the first day of the County Championships at Crystal Palace..

15 medals were bagged, 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze.

World Class Potential swimmer Natalie Prince, 16, swam personal best times in the 200 Free and 800 Free, winning both events, plus the Junior Cup in the 200 Free. She went on to do the tough 200 Butterfly and claimed a Bronze medal.

12 years old Jessica Gill won three medals: Gold for the 800 Free, Silver for the 200 Free and Bronze for the 200 Butterfly.

World Class Start swimmer, 12 year old Adam Field, won Gold and Silver in the 200 Free and 400 Individual Medley, respectively.

Boys Club Captain 15 year old Kristian Willcox claimed Gold in the 200 Free and a well earned Bronze in the 400 IM.

Girls Club Captain and National Age Group Champion Vicki Beaney took the Gold medal in the 200 Butterfly.

Louise Dickinson 14, managed a well deserved Silver medal in the 200 Butterfly, with Catherine Moody also 14 years, taking the Bronze.

11 years old Maddie Gunn, competing in her first 'Counties', bagged Bronze in the 200 Butterfly and the 800 Free, also gaining her first National Qualifying Time.

Other finalists were, Amy Jackson, Nicola Pooley, Milly Maudsley, Simon Gill, Steven Prince, Jonathan Bolland, Nick Baker, Alexander Fisher, Adam Granat and Maria Sheppard.

15th and 16th February - Short Course 50m and 100m

On Saturday 15th/Sunday 16th a strong Elmbridge Phoenix team competed at the pool in Guildford with a final tally of 25 medals gained over the weekend: 7 gold, 10 silver, 8 bronze and 67 finalists.

Girls Team Captain, Vicki Beaney continues to show her excellence, taking gold in five events 50m/100m Butterfly and 50m/100m Breast, and the hotly fought 100 Individual Medley. She also finished 5th and 6th in the 50 Back and Free.

16 years old Natalie Prince, despite not tapering for this competition, still managed a gold for the 50 Free and bronzes for the 50m/100m Breast. Also reaching the finals in the 100m IM/Butterfly and 50m Butterfly.

Boys Captain, 15 years old Kristian Willcox, claimed two silver medals in the 50m Butterfly and 100 IM, then two bronze medals in the 50m Free/Backstroke.

16 years old Michael Garside swam outstandingly, with a total of three silver medals for the 50m Butterfly/Breast and Back.

Up and coming 13 years old Sam Monks also gained three silver medals for the 50m Butterfly/Free and 100m Fly.

11 years old Richard Moody had a very successful weekend, taking GOLD in the 50 Breast and a silver for the 50 Butterfly.

In the same age group, Maddie Gunn carried on her success in these championships, with a silver in the 100m Fly and bronze in the 50m Fly.

bronze medals were also gained by Jessica Gill in the 50 Free, Scott Highton 50 Breast and World Class Start swimmer, Adam Field in the 100 Breast.

Other finalists were, Nicola Pooley, Nick Baker, Francis Highton, Radhika Gajraj, Fiona Smith, Name withheld, Rachael Solway and Jonathan Bolland.

23rd February - Short Course 100m and relays

The Guildford Spectrum hosted the 3rd weekend of the Surrey Swimming Championships. Events were the tough 100m Free, 100m Back and the Relays.

Elmbridge Phoenix swimmer Natalie Prince was first up, winning a gold medal in her age group (16 years), going on to win the JUNIOR TROPHY for 100 Free.

Club Captain, Kristian Willcox, swum a personal best time to scoop the gold medal in the 15 years old boys 100m Backstroke, later taking second place for the JUNIOR TROPHY and bronze in the 100m Free.

13 years old Sam Monks, enjoying a superb meet, took gold in the boys 100m Free, later joined by Adam Field, Jonathan Bolland and Richard Moody, they swam to Bronze position in the 4 X 50m Freestyle Relay.

Adam Field, claimed the silver Medal in the 12 year old boys 100m Free and Jessica Gill did the same in the girls 100m Free.

16 years old Mike Garside, won silver and bronze in the boys 100m Back and Free respectively, going on to get 4th place in the JUNIOR TROPHY, 100m Back.

Girls Club Captain, Vicki Beaney, just missed out on a bronze in the SENIOR TROPHY 100m Back, taking 4th place, with fellow team mate Radhika Gajraj managing 7th in the same event.

Included in a total of 33 finalists were Maddie Gunn, Nicola Pooley, Fiona Smith, Alex Kenway, Louise Dickinson, Catherine Moody, Lauren Wood, Amy Jackson, Anjuli Seabourne, Milly Maudsley, Nick Baker and Rachael Solway.

9th March - Long Course 200m and 400m

Despite being blighted by illness, the small Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club managed an impressive number of medals and finalists.

Currently in second place, in Surrey, for the Women and Girls events, the club won 13 medals on Sunday, 3 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze.

The boys came out top in the gold medal tally this week, with 12 years old Adam Field taking gold in the 400 Free and a bronze in the 200 Breast.

Boys Captain, Kristian Willcox, won gold in the 15 years 200 Backstroke and joining fellow teammate, Adam, took the bronze in the 400 Free.

Girls Captain, Vicki Beaney, won the very tough 400 IM (100m of each of the four strokes, Butterfly, Back, Breast and Free) in the 17 years age group, later taking silver in the 200 IM in her age group and making second place in the 17 years and over TROPHY FINAL for the 200 IM.

World Class Potential Youth Swimmer, Natalie Prince, claimed a silver medal in the 16 years old 200 IM.

Louise Dickinson, had her first Surrey silver medal in the 14 years old 200 IM.

Up and coming 11 years old Maddie Gunn, competing in her first county championships, claimed the bronze medal for the 11 years age group in the 400 IM.

Last of the medallists on Sunday was Fiona Smith, in the 15 years age group 200 Back, and Jessica Gill in the 12 years 200 Back, both coming away with a bronze medal

Finalists (top eight) were; Nick Baker, Francis Highton, Amy Jackson, Candice Burton, Scott Highton, Alexander Fisher, Richard Moody, Amelia Burton, Rachael Solway, Name withheld, Christopher Wrightson and, last but not least, Maria Sheppard.

16th March - Long Course 200m, 400m and 1500m

A lovely sunny day was spent inside the 50m pool on Sunday 16th March. Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club came away with 10 medals and 2 cups. Overall they came second in the Ladies and Girls Aggregate Points, winning the Coronation Cup They had 27 finalists, 2 Gold medals, 3 Silver, and 5 Bronze.

Girls Club Captain, Vicki Beaney, swimming in the Open Age Group, set a new County Record in the 200m Breaststroke, winning the Horsall Cup. She leaves for Sheffield on Tuesday to compete in the British Long Course Competition.

12 years old Adam Field, despite having spent the previous two days in bed ill, managed a huge Personal Best time in the very tough 1500m Free (30 lengths of the Olympic size pool)

Boys Club Captain, Kristian Willcox, came second in the Junior Trophy for the 200 Individual Medley, earlier in the day winning the Bronze medal for the 15 years old 200 Individual Medley. Finishing off with a Bronze in the 200m Butterfly.

13 year old Steven Prince, claimed his first Silver medal of the 2003 Championships in the long distance 1500m Free.

Maddie Gunn, swimming in the 11 years age group, scooped the Silver medal in the 400 Free.

Sam Monks, won a Bronze medal in the 13 years boys 200m Butterfly.

The younger swimmers were in evidence, winning their first Surrey Medals, 10 years old Emma Higson and Sam Childerhouse both won Bronze medals, in the Girls 200 Breaststroke and Boys 200m Butterfly, respectively.

Other Finalists were Name withheld, Rachael Solway, Louise Dickinson, Adam Granat, Nick Baker, Richard Moody, Jessica Gill, Alex Fisher, Francis Highton and Alan Thompson.
