That website also has a page giving just the results for EPSC swimmers. 3rd-5th May at Crystal Palace National Sports CentreThe first weekend started with the Youth Championships. The Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club had seven swimmers competing over three days. Three competition best performances were recorded for the small club, plus 5 medals among 8 finalists. Girls Club Captain Vicki Beaney did just two races: the 200 and 100 Breaststroke; recording competition best performances for both in the 18 years age group. 16 years old Natalie Prince, who has just been selected to go with the World Class Potential programme on a long distance training camp in Cyprus, had a very good weekend, clocking a competition best performance in the 400 Freestyle, silver medal for the 100 Free, bronze medal in the 200 Free, second in the exciting Skins race (a new event), 5th for the tough 50m Free and competing in the 100 Breast. Boys Club Captain 16 years old Kristian Willcox swam in 5 events, making 7th place in the 400 Individual Medley (100m of each stroke). His other swims were 200 IM, 200 Free, 200 Butterfly, and the 100 Back. 14 years old Louise Dickinson and Nicola Pooley swam three events each. Louise, in her first Southern Counties, did the 200 and 400 IM plus the 100 Butterfly. Nicola recorded two personal best times for the 200 and 100 Free, she also swam the 400 Free. The club entered just three relay events. Swimmers were Natalie, Louise, Nicola and Alex Kenway for the 4 x 200 Free and the 4 x 100 Free. The Medley team were Caroline Rutherford Backstroke, Alex on Breast, Louise Butterfly and Natalie Free. 17th and 18th May at Crystal Palace National Sports CentreThe Elmbridge Phoenix Senior Girls team shone at the weekend with a silver medal in the 4 x 100 Open Age group Freestyle Relay. Club Captain Vicki Beaney led the team off, followed by Caroline Rutherford, Nicola Pooley and Natalie Prince on the anchor leg. They were just pipped to a medal in the 4 x 100 Medley Relay, with Caroline on Backstroke, Vicki Breast, Louise Dickinson on Butterfly, and Natalie Free. On Sunday morning Natalie swam the tough 800 Free and although off her best times still won the gold medal in her age group, 16/17 years. In the afternoon, three Elmbridge swimmers competed for the Surrey County team, with Di Hargrave as the Team Coach! Vicki Beaney won the Open age 100m Breaststroke and came 3rd in the 100m Butterfly, clocking a two second Personal Best Time of 1.06.97. Natalie’s 4 x 50m relay team with Kathryn Wild, Melissa Chuck, and Rhianna Loughran also managed a well deserved first place. Natalie later claimed second place in the 16/17 100m Free. Other first places were: Melissa Chuck, 16/17 100m Butterfly; Chloe Winter, 14/15 100m Backstroke; Sam Green, open 100m Backstroke; Kathryn Wild 16/17 100m Backstroke; Owen Morgan open 100m Butterfly; and the Girls 12/13 4 x 50 Free Relay, with Verity Taylor, Jessica Mitchell, Louise Farrer-Fisher, and Clare Abraham. The Surrey Seniors were Second, and Surrey was 5th overall. |
