General behaviour

  1. Treat all members of the club with due respect including:
    • Fellow swimmers
    • Coaches
    • Officials
  2. Treat members of the public who use training facilities with respect.
  3. Treat all competitors and representatives from competing clubs with respect.
  4. The use of inappropriate or abusive language, bullying (whether that be emotional, physical, racist, sexual, homophobic and verbal, but not limited to these,) harassment, discrimination or physical violence will not be tolerated and could result in action being taken through the club behaviour or child welfare policy.

Swimming training

  1. Arrive for training and competition on time and with a positive attitude and correct equipment. If you will be late or are unable to swim please let the head coach or team manager know by txt message or email.
  2. Use the lavatory before training begins and always inform the coach if you need to leave the pool during training.
  3. Look and listen to the coach when they are speaking and follow their instructions for training and competitions.
  4. Always swim to the wall as you do in a race, and practice turns as instructed.
  5. Do not stop and stand in the lane, you may get injured.
  6. Do not pull on the ropes as this may injure other swimmers.
  7. Do not skip lengths or sets you are only cheating yourself.
  8. Think about what you are doing during training.
  9. Do not disrupt other swimmers training.
  10. Do not behave in an inappropriate manner or do anything in the changing rooms which may injure or cause offence to other swimmers or the public.
  11. If for any reason you are not collected by a parent or carer at the end of training immediately notify a Coach, Welfare Officer, Committee member or other parent in the Club. Failing that notify a member of staff at the swimming pool.
  12. Comply with all health and safety instructions.
  13. Notify the Coach before the start of training if you have any illness or injury which may affect your training.
  14. Performance enhancing drugs and substances are strictly forbidden.
  15. Abide by the rules and regulations of the training facility.

Competition

  1. Arrive in good time and if you are going to be late or unable to attend, please contact the head coach or team manager.
  2. Listen to the promoters and head coach/team managers instructions for warm up and the following competition.
  3. Warm-up before the event. Prepare yourself for the race.
  4. Warm up properly by swimming, not playing or stopping in the lane. Turning practice should have taken place during your normal training sessions.
  5. Be part of the team. Stay with the team on poolside. If you leave for any reason you must tell the Coach and Team Manager where you are going.
  6. Listen for your race to be announced. Go to the marshalling area in time and report in. Take your hat and goggles with you.
  7. Support your team mates. Everyone likes to be supported.
  8. You must wear club uniform and hats when representing the club. Be proud to wear your team colours.
  9. Swim down after the race, if possible. Do not use this time to play.
  10. After your race report to the coach, not your parents. Receive feedback on your race and splits.
  11. Be a good sport whether you win or lose.
  12. Personal conduct must at all times be of a high standard and reflect favourably on the Club.
